Siomai or Shomai is a traditional Chinese dumpling. Siomai is commonly cooked through steaming, although fried siomai is getting pretty popular right now amongst the youth. Siomai is best complimented with soy sauce and calamansi and a splash of spice. This popular treat has made its way to the heart of the Filipino’s as evident by the hundreds of stalls, eateries, and restaurants who serve them. In Manila, the best siomai can be found in the Manila China Town (fact: it's the oldest China Town in the world). Several Chinese restaurants and even stalls serve different siomai varieties one of my favorites that i have tried is the Shark's fin Siomai.
My Pork Siomai recipe that I have for you is the Cantonese variety. It basically makes use of ground pork, shrimps, and mushrooms as the main ingredients. I really like this recipe for its authentic oriental flavor.
