Cook Your Own Chicken Asado - Chicken Asado or Asadong Manok is a authentic Filipino chicken dish that originally came from the province of Pampanga. This dish uses very basic and simple ingredients and is not very complicated to prepare and cook. Aside from it's awesome taste chicken asado is usually reddish or dark in color because of Chinese Cuisine influence. My special chicken asado recipe uses tomato sauce for the base ingredient. When I first tried this dish I thought that it's only an ordinary dish but as soon as the fork left my mouth i got hooked. The sweet and sour taste is so rich and tasty so it got curious what's the ingredients are and recreate this dish.

Chicken Asado or Asadong Manok is a authentic Filipino chicken dish that originally came from the province of Pampanga. This dish uses very basic and simple ingredients and is not very complicated to prepare and cook. Aside from it's awesome taste chicken asado is usually reddish or dark in color because of Chinese Cuisine influence. My special chicken asado recipe uses tomato sauce for the base ingredient.

 Chicken Asado Recipe

Ingredients we need :

  • 2 pounds chicken, cut into serving pieces
  • 2 tbsp. of soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup of lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 1 1/2 cup of tomato sauce
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 pieces of dried bay leaves
  • 2 large potatoes, quartered
  • 1/2 tsp. of ground black pepper
  • 2-3 tsp. of salt
  • 3/4 cup of cooking oil

Step by Step Cooking Procedures :

1.Rub the chicken with salt and pepper and let stand for at least 30 minutes. Make sure you rub it evenly and thouroughly.
2.Heat a frying pan then pour the cooking oil slowly and Pan Fry the chicken. Set it aside.
3.Heat a cooking pot or wok then put the butter.
4.When the butter is hot enough, add the onions and sauté until the texture becomes soft. Rember to don't overcook the onions.
5.Add the bay leaves and cook for about a minute.
6.Pour the tomato sauce and bring to a boil.
7.Add the soy sauce and lemon juice then stir to ensure that the mixture is properly distributed and simmer for about 5 to 7 minutes.
8.Add the pan-fried chicken and simmer for about 10 minutes.
9.Place the potatoes in and continue to simmer for about 7 to 12 minutes.
10.Turn off the heat then transfer to a serving plate.
11. That's it You're Done. Serve and Enjoy.
